Blauer Tactical Systems · Tactical Tuesday

Every Tuesday,
Real Violence.
Decoded in Real Time.

Forty years of research. Two live sessions every week — Tuesday with Coach Tony Blauer breaking down real incidents through the SPEAR System® filter, Saturday with his team. Join from anywhere. The floor is always open.

Tony Blauer is a self-defense and combatives pioneer who has influenced every sector of training — from military and law enforcement to professional fighters and traditional martial artists. As a self-defense entrepreneur, he created the SPEAR System®, the KNOW FEAR® program, High Gear® scenario equipment, the Be Your Own Bodyguard program, and more.

A note from Coach Blauer: A lot of work went into this page. Read it carefully. Everything here connects. By the end, you will understand something about violence — and about your training — that most people never figure out.

Dispatch 01 — The Problem

Violence Doesn't Care What Martial Art You Study
Violence doesn't care what martial art you study.
Violence doesn't care what martial art you study.

I've trained over half a million people since the 1980s. I've trained thousands of instructors — cops, military, martial artists, all of them experts in their own stuff. And the thing I keep finding, respectfully, is that people are leaving things out. They become very good at one category and they don't even know the other categories exist.

I had a guy at a Tier 1 military facility — world-class grappler, fought in Abu Dhabi — and every time the scenario called for him to draw his pistol, he guillotined the guy instead. Three times in a row. He had no idea he was doing it. Twenty years of neural patterning overriding five days of new training. That's not a technique problem. That's a neurobiology problem.

“Be careful what you practice — you might get really good at the wrong thing.”

When it's time to run, he threw a double-leg. When it was time to draw, he grabbed a head. The unconscious bias doesn't announce itself. It just fires. And if you've never stress-tested your training against real footage of real violence, you don't know what your nervous system is actually going to do.

Dispatch 02 — The Science

Your Central Nervous System Is the Gatekeeper.

I always talk about mind speed. You can work on punching speed, blocking speed, drawing speed — but the mind navigates the body. If you can't improve your mind speed, none of that other speed matters. And if you don't understand the neurobiology of suddenness — what happens to your nervous system when something comes out of nowhere — you're practicing in a vacuum. You're getting fast at the wrong thing.

Fear influences how you think. How you think influences how you move. If you can't clear the fear, you can't get to the operating system. And you are the operating system.

Exhibit A — The Science of Self-Defense
The science of self-defense: the central nervous system as gatekeeper.
The CNS is the gatekeeper of every response. Strategy follows biology.

Hick's Law tells us that more options mean slower reaction time. Fitt's Law tells us that smaller targets mean longer movement time. Both are arguments for training primal, gross-motor responses under ambush conditions — not memorizing a library of techniques you will never access under real stress.

Exhibit B — Hick's Law / Fitt's Law
Hick's Law and Fitt's Law applied to self-defense training.
More options = slower reaction time. Smaller target = longer movement time. Both are arguments for primal, gross-motor responses under ambush.

Dispatch 03 — The Framework

The Ambush Is the Target of Every Drill.

The intersection of high risk, low frequency, and no discretionary time is where real violence lives. It is not the sparring match. It is not the dojo. It is the parking lot at 10 PM, the elevator, the moment someone closes the distance before you have processed what is happening. That intersection — the ambush — is what every Tactical Tuesday session is designed to prepare you for.

Exhibit C — Training Emphasis
Training emphasis diagram: high risk, low frequency, no discretionary time.
High risk, low frequency, no discretionary time. The intersection is the ambush. That's the target of every drill.

Understanding where violence lives on the timeline changes everything about how you train — and how you respond. The D1–D2–D3 model gives you a cognitive map for the entire arc of a violent encounter: from the first moment of detection, through the fear loop, to the moment where the SPEAR System® takes over.

Exhibit D — The Timeline of Violence
The Timeline of Violence: D1, D2, D3.
D1 → D2 → D3. Detect. Defuse. Defend. The timeline is the map. The SPEAR System® is the vehicle.

Most training addresses only D3 — the physical response. Tactical Tuesday addresses all three. And it does so using real footage, not hypotheticals.

Dispatch 04 — The Blind Spots

What You Don't Know Is the Most Dangerous Thing You Have.

There's a literal blind spot in your eye. That's why we almost get into car accidents — the car is right there, but it's in the spot your eye doesn't cover. What if you had the same thing in your training? What if you could highlight your blind spots before violence finds them?

Is it aerobic efficiency? The weapons you're carrying — or not carrying? Tactical first aid? Can you even put a tourniquet on yourself? Do you understand the difference between attack-specific training and scenario-specific training? Getting out of a headlock in a jiu-jitsu tournament is not the same as getting out of a headlock in a cave in Afghanistan while someone is dragging you deeper into it. The move is the same. The risk of not pulling it off is entirely different.

Dispatch 05 — What Happens

The Checklist. The Footage. The Analysis. The Q&A.

Every Tactical Tuesday session follows the same formula — and produces a different result every time, because the footage is always new. Coach Blauer runs each clip through a proprietary analytical framework that covers everything from the defender's position and context, to whether the attack was realistic, to whether the response would actually hold up under real stress. The goal is not to critique — it is to learn.

Exhibit F — The Tactical Tuesday Checklist
The Tactical Tuesday Checklist.
Same formula. Different footage. Every Tuesday. One goal: mind speed.

After the analysis, the floor opens. Live Q&A. Bring your scenarios. Bring the incident from your agency, your school, your neighborhood, your own past. Coach Blauer will work it with you. This is not a lecture. It is a room where serious people get serious answers.

Dispatch 06 — The Offer

Two Sessions a Week. One Hour Each. Forty Years of Experience.

Tactical Tuesday runs every week at 1 PM Pacific / 4 PM Eastern / 9 PM London. One live hour. Real footage. Real analysis. And then the floor opens — bring your scenarios, your questions, the incident from your agency or your own past. I'll work it with you.

I want this attended by people who are teaching other people, or who have been training long enough to know what they don't know. You don't need a gym. You don't need equipment. You need a Zoom link and 60 minutes. Join from your office, your car, your living room — wherever you are.
